From 2014 I've always drawn something for 9th May (which is a big celebration in Russia, being the end of WWII in Europe), however...this year what I have in mind is a bit different from previous years. Mostly I treat this occasion as a reason to draw my Russian city OC wearing military uniform since other than being a folk costume fan, I'm also obsessed with military uniforms.

The thing is...the past year I have started a side account concerning my other project of drawing Russian warship personifications inspired from an online game called Kancolle. As of now I have created about 30+ personifications of warships from all four fleets and one flotilla. A few of them are related to the cities I've created APH OCs as being built in that city or being patronized by the city administration. Therefore, for this year my plan is to draw some of my Russian city OCs with Russian warship personifications that related to them in real life.

In case someone might wonder what do these warship personifications look like...

[VMF Rossii OCs] Kancolle Card Version by ColorlessOcean

Now the main question is...I understand that due to current situations, some people would prefer not to involve APH characters and OCs with weapons / wars and conflicts in real life. So I'm asking for your opinion here whether I should submit this city OCs-warship personifications crossover on this account? I won't mind submitting it to my side account and then give link to watchers who find this crossover acceptable for them.

(P.S. - even though the personification OCs above are based from real warships, in the main story line they're in an alternated universe which what happened in real life from 2006 onward doesn't necessarily also happen in their universe. Therefore in their story line they don't participate in any conflict in real life today and mostly their battle roles are limited to just naval exercises. The rest of the plot focuses more on humorous aspect like how much K-550 Aleksandr Nevskiy keeps whining that the failed Bulava missile test wasn't his fault but instead because they gave him defective missile.)

One thing that has been lurking in my list of ideas to draw my APH OCs is to draw my Niš OC with his most famous native, whose name you can see on the right side. However, the biggest obstacle was I had no idea how to portray him as I wasn't really into Roman history as I am with Slavic history. Still, thanks to reading history of Niš repeatedly, he's become my favorite Roman emperor.

Then a sudden emergence of a RP group on FB with the historical/fantasy theme similar to the concept of the game Fate / Grand Order gave me a push to try my own design of this emperor. Therefore...his armor is not exactly Roman as some fantasy element is incorporated into it. And as for sword...it was my intention to make its appearance doubles as some kind of a staff with a large cross on top since we all know he was the person who paved way for Christianity to become Roman Empire's main religion.

Anyway, while I understand that in many countries he's considered a saint, my design focuses more on his side as the emperor and the wars he waged in order to secure sole ruling power of the entire Roman back then.

Lion of Central Thailand
**The watermark has to be in place, sorry. I decided to upload this art here first before I'll make a post on FB where this project initially belongs to. Thai art thieves are darn vicious I don't trust to post this art without watermark.

A week ago or so someone made a FB post about how she wants to round up people to draw personifications of all 77 provinces of Thailand, no different from Hetalia concept so to say. Except, well...there's additional 'Thailand otome' theme ('otome' is a genre of game that you play a main character who is a girl and try to get one of several male characters in the game to be your BF). Basically, one is required to live or originally comes from the province they chooses to draw as personification, then designs a male personification of that province wearing local costume(or modified Thai traditional costume from the same area) adorned with famous landmarks or local products from each province.

Well, here is the province I'm living in, which the name written in the pic means 'city of lion'. (sorry, I'm trying to avoid typing the name anywhere because I don't want it to be available for searching on google)

Bullet; Black Bullet; Black Explanation of the province's specialties decorated along with the personification::Bullet; Black Bullet; Black

:lionoid: Nang Yai(Shadow puppet - Wikipedia page about it) from Wat Sawang Arom
       -  One of the last three places in Thailand where shadow puppets troupe still show this kind of traditional entertainment. Normally they usually hold an annual show in early April on the sandy bank of Chao Phraya River in front of wat(temple). Though they don't organize a show very often, one can always visit the shadow puppets museum in the temple area everyday for free.

       :lionoid: Snakehead sculpture
       -  Snakehead (known as 'Pla Chon' in Thai) is a native fish that is very much widespread in all water body in the province. It has become a symbol of this province and one of the most popular menus is 'grilled Mae La snakehead' (Mae La is a name of narrow canal that flows through the province). Also, one of the annual festivals here is fish eating festival ('Kin Pla' festival in Thai). During the period when this festival occurs, there will be several sculptures of fish species native to Thai rivers. In old time they're probably made from straw or wood, I'm not sure, but nowadays most of them are made from fiberglass.

:lionoid: Khanom Pia Pak Bang (the red box and the piece of pastry in his mouth)
       -  ...I'm not the best person to explain about local food TBH, Khanom Pia is something similar to Chinese Mooncake and of course it's also originated from Chinese people who migrated to Thailand. There are quite a number of Chinese migrants in this province (my maternal grandma is one of them) and those who settled in Pak Bang sub-district developed a special type of Khanom Pia which becomes popular among tourists to the point it has become the must-buy pastry for people who visit here.

:lionoid: Khong (that bamboo whiskered vase-liked thing near his hip)
       -  Fishery is one of the main agriculture activities in this area, considering we have three rivers passing through the province (Chao Phraya, Noi and Lopburi) and numerous canals. Khong is a traditional Thai whiskered vase...or something used for storing fishes one caught. There will be a kind of thin cover beneath the mouth to prevent fish from escaping.

:lionoid: Four-eared jar (Hai Si Hu)
       -  There is an archaeology site along the Noi River that was once a major ceramic/terracotta production site. The most unique earthenware found on that site is the four-eared jar. Now the thing is, in Thai language we usually call half-circle shaped handler of pot or cup as 'hu'(literally 'ear'). With this jar shown in the art has four of such handlers, that's where the name came from. No other site of ancient pottery production in Thailand seemed to produce the same type of this terracotta jar, thus it has been considered as one of the province's symbols.

Now I'll have to start drawing a chibi of my province's personification wearing his shirt normally, instead of being in 'ready to tackle snakehead' mode like this. XD Is he going to my only Thai Hetalia OC? Who knows...

[APH+Warship OCs] Den Pobedy 2017
Another year of this 'annual uniform wearing day' for my Russian city OCs. Hehe...,, Emote

...Except this year my decision went to draw a crossover between APH OCs and the VMF Rossii (aka personification of Russian warships currently on active duty in Russian Navy) from my other account.

As I have mentioned about this plan in a journal earlier, here are the pairs of city OC and the ships that related to each of them in real life. These ship personifications are giving their respective 'guardian' / patron flowers to celebrate the Victory Day. (I got this idea from a news last year about a veteran in Kaliningrad who missed the event due to his health, so his grandchild organized a special meet up for him through VK)

Russia Bullet Arkhangelsk OC accompanying by:: TK-17 Arkhangelsk (project 941 Akula/Typhoon) and K-560 Severodvinsk (project 885 Yasen)
Mentioned in the art last year that she, as the person who oversees the entire Arkhangelsk Oblast, has a major shipyard (Sevmash/Zvezdyochka located in the city of Severodvinsk at the mouth of Northern Dvina River) which constructs nuclear-powered submarines for decades. Therefore, not only the two submarine personifications here are named after the localities in her oblast, they also 'born' in the Sevmash shipyard.

Unfortunately, TK-17 is being dismantling now because the cost of maintaining a Typhoon submarine is really expensive and his class being phrased out the project 955 Borey. Meanwhile, K-560 is a new submarines merely got commission a couple of year ago so their age difference is quite a big gap.

Russia Bullet Kamchatka OC comes with:: B-494 Ust'-Bolsheretsk and B-464 Ust'-Kamchatsk (both project 877 Paltus/Kilo)
The funny thing...while on the Kamchatka peninsula is a main base for submarines belongs to the Pacific Fleet, the two little guys here have their base in Vladivostok, despite their names are in Kamchatka. XD They almost look like twin because they're both in the same class and 'born' in the same shipyard. Besides, their class has like...20-something members, hence you could probably call them 'mass production' submarines that the USSR tried to spend the shortest time to complete each one. That also resulted in why their uniform is very minimal looking. XD

Russia Bullet Kursk OC pairs with:: Steregushchiy (project 20380 Steregushchiy corvette)
Kursk and his ship personification is slightly different from others. Instead of using the city's name or name of locality in the region, Steregushchiy is a corvette belongs to the Baltic Fleet that is patronized by the administration of city of Kursk. While rummaging through the website of Kursk Oblast last year to gather idea for this pic, I came across the info about this patronage. This helps me great deal to avoid the awkward situation with K-141 Kursk (honestly, I don't really plan to draw this submarine any time soon).

Russia Bullet Yaroslavl' OC accompanying by:: Uglich (project 21631 Buyan-M corvette) and B-808 Yaroslavl' (project 877 Paltus/Kilo)
B-808 is a kilo-class submarine belongs to the Northern Fleet that the administration of city of Yaroslavl' took patronage in 1999 and from then this submarine has been using the city's name. At the same time, Uglich is a small town on the west of Yaroslavl' Oblast though this is probably the first time they meet since Uglich is quite far away, being assigned to Caspian Flotilla. And of course, it's also the first time B-808 and Uglich meet as well, thus explains the weird 'hey, who are you?!" expression on B-808's face.

One little catch, while being the in same class as the other two kilo subs in Kamchatka's frame, you may notice that B-808's eyes are in different color than them (light brown vs green). That's because B-808 was constructed in a shipyard in Nizhny Novgorod instead of Komsomolsk-na-Amure like the Pacific pair.

And the lone ship personification below is a bonus. :hee: That's the chibi personification of Evgeniy Kocheshkov, a Zubr-class air-cushioned landing craft(LCAC) based in the Baltic Fleet.

I can read Russian and Serbian Cyrillic alphabets and know a few words but still a complete fool at grammar. X_x;; Also, please beware of my 'ability' to speak one language instead of another. For example, I probably, in my state of being an airhead, say 'Spasibo' for thank you to Serbian and then greet Russian with 'Zdravo' instead of 'Privet'. o]---[

With disastrous grammar here and there, LOL. At least I hope I make sense.
